The end of the Veggie Box subscription has come!
What an adventure the last few months has been for us and all of you too I’m sure with all those strange veggies you have never seen or tried before.
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone and quickly summarize the 2018 Share program, but firstly here’s what you have coming in your last share:
*we noticed the potatoes are very firm and starchy, We suggest to boil them well.
While we may have had many blunders and a few crops that didn’t work out, we can definitely say that we had a successful year. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without each of your’s support both financially with your share purchases, and also your words of wisdom, assurance and gratitude. Farming may not be easy, but having such an awesome community of people around us, inspired us to push through.
Some of my favourite things about this year was:
-Meeting new interesting people at the farmer’s markets.
-Growing flowers (even though just a small amount) and new interesting varieties
– Learning how to grow and prepare new varieties such as gooseberries.
-Hearing people’s feedback on our farm and seeing people’s interest in farming
-Eating all our yummy food!
Some of our frustrating moments include:
-Lack of understanding of our prices and methods from some customers at market.
– Soil deficiencies that stopped us from harvesting to the plants full capacity
– General growing pains from learning how to run a farm business and collecting very little salary from it.
We learned so much over the past 20 weeks about running a business and about this industry, that if we do farm again in 2019, we will be able to operate much more efficiently and successfully.
We would love your feedback if you enjoyed something about the program, or have any recommendations for us, please send us an email!
We hope you all have a wonderful winter, and in early 2019 we will send out an email with registration information or an email update for the plans for the farm!
Yours in farming,
Andrew and Sibella
