Here’s what we have lined up for you this week:
Here’s a quick update on what has been going on at the farm this week:
We are nearly at the end of the growing season and we are slowly laying to rest our beautiful summer crops that worked so hard to feed us. Cucumbers and tomato plants that have been producing abundantly for more than 10 weeks are finally tapering off.
It may still be summer, but we feel and see the change of season, as we have officially turned the heat on in our home, and have been baking pumpkin, pear and apple pies. All this feels incredible. There is no more fear of crops wilting from drought, and we can finally stay inside and watch the rain.
We are starting to take orders for pies. We make the crust with Canadian grown, fresh milled organic flour, and all locally sourced, organic ingredients. For this time of year, the most accessible fillings are pear, apple and pumpkin. Sibella usually makes lattice topping and spends time to make it pretty. Please refer to photos below. $30 / pie.
Our Yummy Yards farm partners (where we farmed in Richmond in 2016) visited us on the farm with their baby girl Poppy. It was really nice to catch up with them and show them our production and new digs here in South Surrey. We reminisced about out our old farm and troubleshooted some of our current issues. It can be really helpful getting another professional’s point of view.
We would love to hear your feedback if you have anything to share with our farm this year. We love hearing from you and would like to hear about anything you felt was really great about the subscription program, or about anything we could improve on in the future.
Yours in farming,
Andrew and Sibella
